About the Author
Before sacrificing his soul to dark forces in the Square Mile, Cityboy was a genuine left-wing hippy and political activist, complete with ponytail and hoop earrings. After spending a productive gap year smoking weed in Asia, Cityboy went to Cambridge where he graduated on to pills and left with a 2:1 degree in history. He then went back to Asia for six months before pursuing a year-long MA at Sussex University studying revolutions. His dream of becoming a global traveller was cruelly dashed when his brother got him an interview at a French bank in the City, which, unbeknown to him at the time, would set him on the rocky road to destruction and despair. A chance for salvation came in September 2006 when he was offered the opportunity to write an anonymous weekly column in thelondonpaper. Geraint's confessional 'City boy' column soon garnered a cult following as he tirelessly strived to humorously expose the world that had once almost destroyed him.

The book answers the question: who and what are these financial people that caused a lot of trouble worldwide?

I did not give 5 stars because, although it is a realistic personal and humorous description of life on the square mile, I think and hope it is exaggarated.
But even if it is half true, it confirms my impression of people, thinking only of one thing: money and not for public use, but for themselves.
I recommend it to everyone who feels slightly jealous of people earning a lot of money in the financial business. Conclusion: be happy with what you have.

A truly great book

This is a truly great book about the City - if you are at least a little bit interested in the subject, you should definitely start reading it and you will not be able to stop. It inspired me to read some more books on the subject ("Too Big To Fail", more of a documentary character, is certainly worth a try). Given the current market situation, I guess the moment the book was published could not have been timed better.

It is what it is

A fun read based on the exploits of a former Master of the Universe who detailed his descent into City-fueled hedonism and his eventual rediscovery of his ethics and sense of self. It'll never be featured on Oprah's book list, but if you're looking for something that seem like the transcribed ramblings of that dude in the bar who just told his boss to eff off 'cuz he's done working for The Man, then this is the book for you.
