Terrible textbook for an intro finance course

This book is borderline worthless for an intro finance course resource. I ended up going outside of the text for most assignments and pooling the resources of Investopedia and other financial websites. Even Wikipedia typically had more to offer than this quagmire of calculus equations. The book offered examples with insufficient explanation, and glossed over important materials that one would need to master for such a course. I don't know whose decision it was to change the required text to this mess, but shame on them.

I really love this book a lot. It is well written. Students can easily understand the book. The examples that is given in the book is easy to follow so that you can do the problems at the end of the chapter.

Didn't select this book for my course

I teach a computing ethics course at an area University. I did not select this book as my text when I reviewed texts for use in the Fall 2004 semester. I did choose Spinello and Tavani's new reader; but this book--like most of the predecessors Spinello has written--would drive my students nuts -- and they wouldn't know why. Bottom line: poorly written and not easy to read -- lots of tough sentence choices made. However, as with Spinello's other books, there are some points he makes that no other computing ethics texts' authors do make! So, I'll glean those points out of his text and present them to my students rather than force them to work their way through and around his prose.

Waste of time

This book was an incredible waste of time. I felt that the essays were a) far too dated (a rambling discourse on the dangers of cookies) or b) too out of touch (Rape in cyberspace was NOT a real rape in cyberspace, folks) The authors seem to be mainly scholars without a tech background than technical folks and I have to agree that the thesaurus was in heavy use during the writing of most of the these essays. Finally the book contains very little practical information on cyberethics. Not even a single case study.

Classical economics in an X-ray machine

After reading this book and absorbing the amazing content I can truly say this is one of the better economic books I've read. The author dives deep into the main topics that the Classical school wrote about and disects the main writers, Adam Smith and David Ricardo. But what I really enjoyed was the thoughts about the "2nd and 3rd" layers of writers in this space. The suggested readings at every chapter give you lots of great ideas about who to read next and I truly feel I understand the "Classical School of Economics" much more now.

The Bible of body shaping and weight training

The weight training Bible…I am serious

Bill Pearle has published the greatest weight training reference ever written. This book is for both men and women. He covers every muscle group. He illustrates how to work each muscle in a number of different ways with free weights, machines, and no equipment at all. The book is very thorough. It is a reference you will go back to again and again for the rest of your life.

I purchased a second copy. My original paper back copy was lost in a house disaster. I am very pleased to find the book is back in print. Bill Pearle is the master at shaping the body.

Great book from the master

Great book from the master, Bill Pearl. He illustrates a huge variety of different positions to accomplish similar objectives. For instance, I am working around a rotator cuff injury and need to perform curls from the seated isolated dumbbell curl position to take all the load off my shoulder. Now I am trying to find a stance to work around my medial epicondilitis pain!

This bodybuilding book is one of the best I have ever read. Bill Pearl gives excellent advice on many topics. He even has a section about women and bodybuilding. He also talks about the proper attitude you should have and how you need to think positive while training. His diagrams of the various muscle groups are amazing. The pictures showing how to properly perform bodybuilding exercises are extremely helpful. This book also has degrees of difficulty listed for each exercise. This book is a must have for any bodybuilder. Whether you are a beginner or have been bodybuilding for a long time.

PRIDE!!

Rhys and Chase might be a little late joining their friends at Pride this year, just as long as they aren't late getting to the church on time.

Rhys Sayer and Chase Manning are fully committed to each other and their relationship. Rhys has always said, if they made gay marriage legal in their state he'd make an honest man out of Chase. As with everything else in their hectic lives though, the day doesn't go without a few speed bumps. Rhys is going stir crazy at the office waiting for Chase's birth certificate to arrive. No certificate, no marriage license. More important than that, the decision whether to legalize gay marriage or not hasn't even been stated yet, so the rush to get the document delivered on time could be a moot point.

I loved this short little story and how it fit so perfectly into the Desires Entwined universe. It is always fun to catch up with characters I've enjoyed reading about and seeing where they are now. This is a fun, fast read but won't make much sense if you haven't read the other stories in the series, so start there if you are new to books.

Tempeste O’Riley takes us back to visit with Rhys and Chase and all our other friends. The first morning of Pride Fest finds Rhys Sayer on bended knee asking Chase Manning the big question. Gay marriage has finally been legalized and Rhys is determined they marry now. Rushing off first to the courts for the paperwork, the two then head to Pride Fest to celebrate with their friends.

I loved this story. It is not long but celebrates what romance does best - love. Love that should not be the subject of arbitrary laws. It will leave you with a smile as Rhys and Chase demonstrate that love for each other by getting married. Congrats!

Really liked this Novella!

This was a cute little short read of Rhys and Chases wedding day!
I thought it was very sweet you could definitely see how much Rhys loves Chase with the way he wants everything to be perfect for him and to make sure they have the wedding with family and friends. This was such a super fast read I really cant go much more into it without giving this whole novella away. So I will leave this review with I thought this was such a cute and sweet story between these two men and their special day.

All together I really liked this Novella!

In Detail

Android is a mobile operating system that runs on a staggering number of smart phones and tablets. Android offers developers the ability to build rich and innovative applications written using the Java programming language.

Beginning with detailed instructions on how to install and configure the Android SDK, Studio, and Virtual Device Manager, the book moves on to creating a simple, but working, "Hello World" app that can be run on a real device or emulator.

The book then moves on to layouts and the visual design of Lollipop apps. A new app is begun to demonstrate this and expanded as we move further, and, once material design has been introduced, the book moves on to the Java coding aspect and how to write code that responds to user interactions via callback methods such as touchscreen gesture listeners. No book on Lollipop APIs would be complete without explaining how the new Android TV, Wear, and Auto SDK tools work and how they can be utilized to either create new apps or convert those originally written for other platforms.

May be good for beginners who dislike the format of Android's online docs

I bought this book with the intention of learning how to use the Android's GPS facility to send coordinates information to a remote server via a JSON object. I already had sufficient knowledge of HTTP requests and responses but I just needed to know how to do it in Android using Java. Even though the contents of this book mentioned that it covered Android GPS it sadly didn't cover what I needed, therefore it wasn't much use.

Much of the book seems to just be a re-write of Google's online Android programming documentation, however this book obviously covers a lot less. I eventually had to search the web for the information I needed. If are a complete beginner and you need a book to get you started in the basics of Android development then this book may help you out. Sadly, it hasn't been much use for me yet!

Very good book

This book is like a tool to optimize your project, the author have made a good job in Android 5 Programming by Example, with a good introduction based on top updated features on Android API, you can start develop all kind of project with the small but functional projects presented in each chapter, I was finding myself a little outdated and searching for a good introduction about new elements in Android 5, I am not a beginner in Android Development, but, I wasn't able to build elegant apps like I feel now, this book gives me the power and confidence to start new projects, now Android is more mature, beautiful, organized, and the author guides you from very beginning to end and marketing your project, I would recommend this book for anyone, even if you never programmed an Android app before.

Great book, at first i was a little daunted with using the xml on the UI when the same can be done with just placing widgets and the xml being updated automatically, but as i got going further i could not get away from the laptop and found myself glued to this book! building the new features for android 5 was a real enjoyment and gave me some great ideas for future apps.
Adding CardView widgets was something i was looking forwards to and this was covered early on when building a tourist kind of app screen, this is a great tool to use and i am sure all will be pleased.
I highly recommend this book for all you developers as it covers some really neat stuff.
